We wait patiently for spring

Rev. Jeffrey Symynkywicz, February 22, 2009

We wait patiently for spring
though winter now seems a bit less,

on the outside at least.
The season of darkness
is every day becoming more
one of patient sleep and anticipation.

May we, too, banish the darkness and cold inside of ourselves

with our hope, and with the warmth we feel

and the light we kindle,

in being together.

It us not yet time, perhaps, on the outside,
for the heart to rush forth
in full exuberance and vivid colors;
but inside, where hope abides,

it can always be a time
of beauty and resilience.

May we wait patiently, together,

 for the spring to arrive,

for our world, our church, our selves;
with hearts and hands engaged
in the working, the wondering, the hoping
for all the dreams that still lie in wait
to blossom forth as flowers of our spirits.
