This creation is holy
and all of a piece,
a vast holy land
of beauty and bliss
for us to enjoy
and call our blessed home.
Wandering about the face of the Earth,
we are touched by so many simple miracles:
body and soul united in a triumph of spirit;
from the smallest miraculous molecules,
to grand canyons and vast nebulae,
to interior wonders of soul touching soul
and falling in love again--
and so we clothe ourselves with garments of the holy,
lest our little selves be crushed by such awesome and immense beauty.
All earth is sacred space,
every place we walk
and move and are;
The outward and the inner all united
in one total, living whole.
All spirit is holy spirit:
every time we breathe
and sing and love,
The same fire that burns at heaven's core
burns that moment in our souls.
We, little as we are,
with so much road still to walk over,
are the Earth,
the Sun and Moon:
We are each a holy empire;
we are each a sacred ember.
It is time, then--
God's time--
to glow like fire, to reach out
to embrace our planet, embrace our lives.
Perhaps it has been too many years since we last glowed;
perhaps we have been away from home for too long now.
