One with the garment of time

Rev. Jeffrey Symynkywicz, November 11, 2007

In every living moment is enfolded
all that has come before
and the precious seeds
of all that is to be.

Every moment is a perfect summary
of an entire life, a whole eternity:
concentrated so intimately and intensely
it will explode with power if we let it live
and bless us.

The moment that we live today, right now,
holds our entire history in its arms;
every day we live embraces our whole being
and returns love for love.

Deeper and deeper the spiraling moment turns,
strong rooted in the ground as years go by,
and if we let these radical fires burn within,
young hands again reach out like branches
to caress gently the bright and burning sky.

When our actions are one
with the garment of time,
we become one with the Earth,
and there is then no division
between the domains of humanity and nature.

Until at the end,
we blend with the soil;
our long work done,
we take up the greater joy
of life in God’s presence.

To be at home on the earth we know
is to be at home in a heaven of which we dream:
no borders, no boundaries;
no walls between us and all others:
just shimmering air, golden space
and all Creation as alive as we are
in this sparkling moment.
