We are joined as one

Rev. Jeffrey Symynkywicz, March 4, 2007

We are joined as one
in a great, holy, energy event:
one beating heart, together;
one body, one collective soul.

Why all these barriers, then?
As though these false and puny
human walls we erect
could stop the love of God from flowing.

But halt it they do,
if only for a little while—
until the winds of God blow them down,
one by one,
and engage our hearts and hands
in the work of love
and caring for one another.

We pile so many conflicts upon our days;
so many complications and contradictions.
While all the time, God just wants us
to be like little children:
brothers and sisters of one divine parent;
holy offspring of a great and timeless need
to turn, and serve, and be with one another.
