By living it most simply

We live life’s message most deeply
by living it most simply;
not in ostentatious gesture
nor in grand design,
but honestly, directly, by being ourselves
to the very depths of our souls.

We were not made to skim about
on the surface of the world forever--
spending all our hours locked in combat;
buying and selling the wares and dreams
of others. Rather, we were made
to live-- in the rich, ripe fullness
of all that living entails.

When we are most alive,
we are most in harmony
with the Divine Plan.
When we answer
the call of our souls,
and the admonitions of our hearts,
we’ll know finally who we truly are,
and who, at last, our Creator intended us to be.

In the meantime, we may drift about
on the surface,
or fumble about
amidst the clutter—
feeling so well the confusion, the separation,
the very complication of it all.

But then there comes a time
to awaken again to that deeper peace;
in that deeper place.
Awake again with God,
in love, in life, in the holy simplicity
and the simple miracle of who we are inside.
