Feel the stillness of the air,
the quietness over all,
the peace in your soul;
feel it, hear it, and let it
hold you forever;
let it hold you in its everlasting arms,
forever, in this instant.
That peace is where we are
right now,
and not off somewhere
in some tumultous crowd,
loud and garish spectacle
of modern life,
full of noise and rage,
claiming much too high a price.
This is our deepest truth;
this the ground which
upholds us and sustains us;
this the richest reality of all,
which banishes in a noiseless flash
the banal production
of buying and selling,
claiming and grabbing,
overseeing and overpowering,
which seem the tenor of our times.
The Spirit drifts in
as quiet as the lightest breeze
and as refreshing as the dewfall;
She turns off all the whirring, whirling,
noisy machines; closes the window
on the outside commotion,
and finds a hallowed place
deep inside your soul—
a place for Her (and you)
to sleep, and take comfort,
and breathe that deep peace
abiding and true.
Find, right her and now,
the final, rightful resting place
of your common, holy souls.
