This Luminous Creation

Every luminous object in all Creation
speaks symbols to us every moment of our being.
It shouts to us, louder than any earthly noise,
that there is Life here, secrets hidden,
deep joy at the heart of all our work and pleasure.

There are warnings, clues, little hints
of Divinity hidden in every bit and speck we see;
more messages are encoded in every day and hour
that we spend living, breathing, dancing upon the Earth.

Indeed, the Earth is the chronicle
of our living writ large-- our human living,
together with all creatures who bless us
by there being with us
and allowing us to be by them
and share the bounty,
and share the Mystery.

There is a Holy Choice in every moment of our lives:
read the clues, and live them;
or shut your eyes, take up space,
and go on through life a burned-out grumbler,
sipping at bitterness where the sweetness ought to be.
