The Sacred Radiance of Love

Rev. Jeffrey Symynkywicz, April 28, 2002

It is the pearl of great price,
this love deep within our souls,
and if it manifests itself but once in a lifetime
that would be enough;
it is enough that it lives at all.

But when it explodes in sparkling rays--
a rainbow of light and myriad colors--
it becomes the most amazing and life-affirming joy;
that is what makes it all worthwhile;
this is what lights our days and guides us through the night.

It is in the refraction and reflection of that glory
that life’s splendor is most clearly seen;
it is in the magnificent diversity of streaming lights
and loves that we glimpse most clearly
the warmth and fire at the heart of Creation.

In fidelity to our history and our being
we set deep, true roots within the Earth;
this is no dead weight of binding,
but the glorious duty from which
life’s deepest meanings grow.

In celebration of the glorious transformation
our branches reach out, tentatively at first,
to touch the ever-so-soft tendrils of budding;
we greet new lives, new insights, new loves,
which present ever-new to us the sacred kiss of life.
