All Roads Lead to God

If all roads lead to God,
as we’ve been taught
and as we know,
then the many different pathways
each of us walks in the course of a day
leads to the Holy One as well.

So, as long as we live in love
and act with justice,
then we can know
that the many different facets of our being
lead inexorably to the seat of the Divine
where we find blessing.

Thus, within us such differences as
holy and unholy,
sacred and profane,
are but categories, shadows, illusions--
for all our inner roads take us on the journey
toward that which gives us life.

But even though the end be the same,
the choices we make (or don’t)
here and now in this world
determine to an amazing degree
how happy and safe, fortuitous and free,
the blessed journey will ultimately be.
