The Darkness Inside

There is a darkness deep inside our souls,
but not one to be feared,
but one to be cherished and held close:
Swim deeply in it,
for it is

For when we go deep into that mystery,
that peace,
we find who we truly are:
beings of all-radiant light
and ever-greening creativity.

But if one dwells only in the artificial light
on the surface of things,
one beholds only a shallow
pale-bleached reflection
of that which truly is.

It is only in the deep dark true darkness
that one submerges into the inner being
unfoldingly enough
to come face to face with the god, the goddess,
who waits patiently on the other side.
