An Easter Prayer

Rev. Jeffrey Symynkywicz, April 15, 2001

Let the life force flow,
let it cascade through your veins
maddeningly, gloriously,
like a mighty stream,
like a raging torrent,
like the Eastertide rush
of life that won’t be trammeled.

Open wide the locks
that keep your life hidden,
hemmed in by small desires;
open wide the flood gates
and let life dash in
and nearly carry you away
in the rush of the water,
the sweep of the tide,
and the embrace of a life
that knows no human limits.

Let the life force flow,
sweeping you into the new realm
here on earth we are building
with blueprints of the Eternal Master--
Great Helmsman of the Soul--
Great Admiral of the Heart--
to whom we are all precious sailors, dear comrades,
doing our part as He guides
life’s fragile, precious ship
to ever-eastering harbors of the Spirit
where sunrise’s beams embrace us
when life is new,
and God’s sunset arms enfold us
when life is through.

Amen.
