One In the Love of God

If we are one in the Love of God,
then all earthly loves pale in comparison
and are mere commentaries
on the Song of Life.

Even those to which we cling for dear life
when the thought of our aloneness
appears as a dark abyss before us.

Even those that make us smile and laugh
and create roads filled with new adventures
stretching out for years and miles before us.

Even those that give our hearts great pain,
reminding us how real this life is
and how we yearn to cling to these earthly bodies.

The Love of God, the unquenchable Kiss of the Spirit,
is the true force that makes our hearts beat,
our eyes open, our voices sing,
and fills our souls with ever-deepening wellsprings
of creativity, joy, and hope.

Amen.
