Slow me down,
Lord,
that I might discern the meaning of my days.
Stop me from hurrying through everything,
so that I might see and feel your life energies
guiding me ever toward that which is right and true,
beautiful and life-sustaining.
Help me to clear my mind of the incessant demands
of more... more... faster... faster,
so that in the end I fall down in exhaustion
and settle for so much less than could be.
Help me to clear my mind
so that your enlightenment might shine,
so that you may burn within me a path of connection
with my body and the Earth and with all others.
Give me times of quiet repose
to counterbalance and redeem the hours
of worthwhile and necessary activity.
Help me to find balance:
between outer and inner,
between body and mind,
between freedom and duty,
between doing and being.
Slow me down, Lord,
that I might see your hand at work
in the unfolding of my life.
Amen.
